It was a weekend of remarkable achievements for two first-year athletes from our athletics academy, as Godwin Mutwanda and Gracelynne Agyepong delivered standout performances on the national and international stage.

Mutwanda Strikes Gold in Sweden

Representing Team England at the prestigious Indoor Växjö Throws International in Sweden, Godwin Mutwanda delivered a phenomenal performance in the discus event. Not only did he secure first place, but he also recorded a new personal best of 54.41m—a mark that stands as both his indoor and outdoor PB. This impressive throw highlights his growing potential in the sport and sets a strong foundation for an exciting season ahead.

Agyepong Breaks New Ground in London

Meanwhile, in London, fellow first-year athlete Gracelynne Agyepong made an impressive breakthrough at the South of England Championships. Competing in the 60m sprint, she reached her first-ever Championship final and clocked a personal best of 7.88 seconds. This outstanding result now places her 34th in the UK for her age group, demonstrating her rapid progression and future potential in sprinting.

Both performances mark significant milestones for these promising young athletes, showcasing their talent, dedication, and drive for success. With such strong starts to their competitive journeys, the future looks bright for Godwin and Gracelynne as they continue to make strides in their respective disciplines.

Congratulations to both on their incredible achievements!
