Oakfest 2024: A Day of Family Fun and Festivities at Oaklands College

Recently, our St Albans campus transformed its grounds into a vibrant celebration of family fun and entertainment as we hosted the highly anticipated Oakfest. The festival, now a beloved annual tradition, drew an impressive crowd of 2,151 attendees, all eager to partake in the diverse array of activities we had organised.

From the moment families arrived, it was clear that Oakfest was designed to deliver on its promise of “something for everyone.” Kids enjoyed unlimited rides included in the admission fee, with popular attractions such as bumper cars, a teacup ride, an inflatable slide and an 80ft assault course. Younger children were thrilled with the interactive Toy Box activity featuring characters from the beloved children’s cartoon, Bluey, as well as a dedicated ballpark and soft play area.

Adults weren’t left out of the fun. The live music stage hosted a lineup of local bands and singers, providing a dynamic soundtrack to the day. A variety of food stalls offered delectable treats, with five stalls even selling out due to high demand. The bars ensured everyone stayed refreshed and pop-up shops allowed local businesses to showcase their products to enthusiastic festival-goers.

Adding a competitive edge to the festivities, our sports academy set up a sports zone where visitors could demonstrate their athletic prowess. This addition was a hit among attendees looking to engage in some friendly competition.

Claire Dolan, Deputy Principal at Oaklands College, expressed her delight at the event’s success, saying, “Oaklands’ very own family festival was a great success and we were very excited to bring music, food and fun to the area again this summer. We are committed to sharing our fantastic facilities and grounds with as many local people as possible.”

The festival’s success was echoed in the positive feedback received from attendees. Social media buzzed with praise, with comments such as, “We all had a great day and the weather certainly helped. Will you be doing it again next summer?” and “Was a brilliant day. We really enjoyed it.” These sentiments were shared by many, including stallholders, who were thrilled with the turnout and business generated.

Oakfest also served as a platform for Oaklands College to engage with prospective students and parents. The Oaklands stall saw significant interest, with new starters for September stopping by to ask questions and get a feel for the community.

As the day drew to a close, it was clear that Oakfest had delivered a memorable experience for all who attended. Our blend of entertainment, community spirit and family-friendly activities made it a standout event. With such overwhelming positive feedback, anticipation for next year’s Oakfest is already building. Stay tuned for what promises to be another spectacular day of fun at Oaklands College.
