We recently welcomed professionals from the NHS Academy for an inspiring careers morning. The event gave Health and Social Care students an invaluable opportunity to discover the diverse career paths available within the NHS and learn from experienced professionals.
A Window into NHS Careers
The morning began with an engaging introduction and video presentation that showcased the 350 career options within the NHS. Students gained insights into the challenges and rewards of working in one of the UK’s most essential organisations.
Hands-On Learning with the NHS Team
Students took part in a dynamic Speed Meet session, where they spent 15 minutes at each station learning from NHS professionals. Representatives from Theatre Practice, Therapy Services, Pharmacy, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health, and Health Informatics shared their experiences and expertise. Students had the chance to ask questions and dive deeper into the skills and knowledge required for each role.
Allied Health Professions in Focus
A highlight of the morning was a detailed presentation on the 14 Allied Health Professions, which introduced students to essential roles within healthcare that play a critical part in supporting patients and communities.
Engaging Students Across All Levels
The event was attended by students from six Health and Social Care groups, ranging from Level 2 to Foundation, T Level, Extended Diploma, and Access to Health and Access to Science. The breadth of attendees demonstrated the college’s commitment to providing all students with meaningful opportunities to explore their future career paths.
The careers morning was a huge success, offering students a first-hand look at the exciting opportunities within the NHS and inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
A big thank you to the NHS Academy and its team for bringing their expertise and enthusiasm to Oaklands College!
