Oaklands College proudly hosted our first-ever parkrun event this Saturday, drawing an impressive crowd of over 250 runners, walkers, and volunteers to our scenic campus. The weekly event, which is free and open to all, marked the beginning of a new community tradition centred around health, fitness, and togetherness.
Participants of all ages and abilities embraced the vibrant atmosphere, navigating the 5km course through the college grounds. Among the attendees was a standout runner who travelled all the way from Cornwall to take part, demonstrating the far-reaching appeal and camaraderie of the parkrun community.
"Seeing so many people come together for our inaugural event was truly inspiring," said Simon Foden, Head of Commercial at Oaklands College. "The commitment of our volunteers and the enthusiasm of our participants sets the stage for a thriving parkrun tradition here at Oaklands, which is amazing for our growing community."
The parkrun at Oaklands College will take place every Saturday at 9 am, offering a welcoming space for anyone looking to improve their fitness, connect with others, or simply enjoy the outdoors.
