Assessment

Continuous Classroom assessment will take place based on Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement. Your tutor will observe your progress during the course and provide you with supportive and encouraging feedback. You will be expected to keep a record of your own progress and achievements by, for example, photographing your outcomes and reflecting on what you have learnt. Your tutor will support and guide you through this.

About the course

In this interesting course for all abilities you will learn/ develop a wide range of hand-building pottery processes, such as pinching, coiling and slab, and use a number of decorative finishes including slips, oxides and glazes. You will also have the opportunity to throw on the wheel. All processes will be demonstrated and you will be guided and supported throughout the course. Your tutor will provide you with supportive and encouraging feedback throughout the course. You will keep a record of your own progress and achievements by, for example, photographing your outcomes and reflecting on what you have learnt. This course is part-funded and the total fee for the year is '701 including materials for adults aged 24+. The course is free for those aged 24+ who are unemployed and on benefit or for those in employment on a low income.

All materials and equipment necessary for the course will be provided. There will be an additional fee should you wish to produce large ceramic pieces.
