Course Content - What will I learn?

Basic DIY Plumbing Course Content Module 1: Introduction to Plumbing Overview of plumbing systems Common plumbing tools and their uses Safety practices and precautions Module 2: Understanding Plumbing Materials Types of pipes (PVC, copper, PEX, etc.) Fittings and fixtures Sealants and adhesives Module 3: Basic Plumbing Skills Cutting and joining pipes Installing and replacing faucets Fixing leaks and drips Module 4: Working with Drains and Toilets Unclogging drains Installing and repairing toilets Understanding and fixing common toilet issues Module 5: Water Heaters and Appliances Basics of water heater maintenance Connecting washing machines and dishwashers Troubleshooting common appliance issues Module 6: Advanced DIY Projects Installing a new sink or shower Adding outdoor plumbing (e.g., garden hose bibs) Planning and executing small plumbing renovations Module 7: Final Assessment and Certification Practical assessment by the tutor Review of key concepts Certification from Oaklands College
