Assessments will be taken at Entry Level 3. These are mainly observation assessments with some written work. A portfolio of evidence is built throughout the course.

This qualification will provide formal skill recognition, including preparation for work. It will provide a bridge for progression into general vocational and education qualifications.

Course Content - What will I learn?

This is a one year full time course. You will complete a full year of animal care and during this time you will also complete functional skill's in Literacy and Numeracy. Units covered in animal care will be: Preparing for Work, Recognise Types and Parts of the Body of Small Animals, Assist with Catching and Restraining a Small Animal, Check that a Small Animal is Healthy, Groom a Small Animal, Show Visitors around a Small Animal Enterprise, Recognise Types of Animal Housing and Bedding for Small Animals, Assist in Cleaning Small Animal Housing, Check a Farm Animal is Healthy, Move a Farm Animal, Weigh a Farm Animal, Recognise Different Characteristics of Breeds of Poultry, Assist with Catching Poultry, other units include Health and Safety in the Industry and Life Skills units
You will complete functional skill's in Literacy and Numeracy
