Entry requirements

This course aims to teach learners basic Deaf Awareness and some basic British Sign Language communication skills.There are no entry requirements however all learners need to be a minimum 19 years old.

About the course

This one day course will start you on your Sign Language journey. You will be able to recognise and use the manual alphabet, use signs for numbers and appropriate greetings in British Sign Language. Additional topic based vocabulary will also be covered, tailored to the group together with signs for everyday objects. You will also gain an understanding of how visual language differs from spoken language which will be discussed and investigated through practical applications.

Career options

Signature Level 1 Award in British Sign language. This is a 1 year course which commences in September and concludes in June. There are three examinations to achieve during this duration.
