About the course

This course is funded by Step2Skills for residents of Hertfordshire only. When you enrol on this course you are agreeing to complete paperwork to reflect and record your progress. Attendance is vital, so first check that you are available to attend each weekly lesson. Thinking about a supporting role within a school? Then why not take the first steps in becoming a teaching assistant by joining this six week introductory course. The course will include understanding how a school operates and the role of a teaching assistant; identify the different ways children learn and how this can be supported; explore strategies to effectively deal with behaviour issues; the importance of Safeguarding and the well-being of pupils and key legislation and practices relating to health and safety within a school environment. Career options

During the course guidance will be provided in applying for a role. To progress and attain a recognised qualification which includes the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
