Entry requirements

This course is for learners 19 years old or over. There are no formal qualifications to join this course only the desire to learn sign language and be committed to attend each weekly lesson.

You will be taught by a tutor who is very experienced and has a wealth of knowledge about Deaf people and their culture.

About the course

This course is funded by Step2Skills for residents of Hertfordshire. When you enrol on this course you are agreeing to complete paperwork to reflect and record your progress. Attendance is vital, so first check that you are available to attend each weekly lesson. This 10 week non qualification course offers beginners a basic introduction to British Sign Language. It will provide the opportunity to learn some vocabulary together with an understanding of the differences between spoken and visual languages. The topics included the alphabet, colours, numbers and family members. The course dates are: 19 Nov - 17 Dec & 7 Jan - 4 Feb.
