Students can start with any qualification depending on existing skills and experience.'For the best chance of success, we recommend that students begin their studies with a good standard of English and Math, ideally at level 2.

Assessment

When you're studying an AAT qualification your knowledge and skills will be tested via computer based assessments (CBAs). These are administered by AAT Approved training providers or assessment centres, and run entirely on PCs or laptops. All AAT CBAs are marked in one of three ways: 1. Wholly computer marked, and so results will be available automatically 2. Partially computer marked and partially human marked, and so results will be available within six weeks 3. Wholly human marked, and so results will be available within six weeks. Oaklands College is an approved training provider.

About the course

This qualification delivers a solid foundation in finance administration and core accounting skills, including double-entry bookkeeping, basic costing and an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers. Students will also learn about accountancy-related business and personal skills and be introduced to the four key themes embedded in the qualification: ethics, technology, communications and sustainability. This flexible course is delivered in partnership with'Mindful Education and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom at St Albans Campus.

Career options

On successful completion of this course, you might be eligible for a fully funded Level 3 course or you apply for entry level jobs in accounting.

Course Content - What will I learn?

This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry-level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration 'covering areas such as double-entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software. On successful completion of this course, you will be awarded an AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting. This internationally recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification enables those working in accounting or those who looking to pursue accountancy as a career to gain knowledge, practical experience and the all-important certification often sought by employers. Units of Study The Level 2 course covers a range of key areas, including: 'Introduction to Bookkeeping 'Principles of Bookkeeping 'Principles of Costing 'The Business Environment You will also develop business communications and lifelong learning skills, applying what you learn on the course to the wider industry context.
