This qualification will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in the school environment. It is suitable for those working in roles that support pupils'learning including teaching assistants, learning support assistants and special needs assistants.

Career options

This award will give you a qualification suitable for a position as a teaching assistant, classroom assistant or learning support assistant. You could progress onto the Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.

Course Content - What will I learn?

You will learn about all aspects of supporting teaching and learning in schools in line with current developments in the sector and have the opportunity to reflect on your practice. Typlical units can include: Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people; Child and young person development; Equality, diversity and inclusion in work withchildren and young people; Support learning activities; Schools as organisations. Qualified and experienced childcare assessors will run knowledge and portfolio building workshops at the St Albans Campus on some Wednesday evenings in term time.
