Assessment

Assessment is evidenced in a portfolio of work. Assessments include examination, observation, written, assignments and oral questioning. You will treat clients in the commercial salon and will receive practice treatments from students.

About the course

Students will complete Level 2 Beauty Therapy covering a range of units. All units will have written assessments, multiple choice tests and will include practical summative assessments on paying clients covering ranges set by VTCT.

Career options

After successful completion of the course we recommend you complete one of the VRQ Level 3 qualifications in your subject e.g. Level 3 beauty treatment, Level 3 massage therapies Level 3 in Theatrical and Media Make up, Level 3 in Nail Technologies or Level 2 in Hairdressing studies. .

Our Hair and Beauty courses enable you to work in a wide variety of salons, nail bars, spas, cruise ships, or even work abroad in luxury resorts. Depending on the level you choose to study, we recommend that you carry on climbing the ladder within Oaklands, and then onto university or into employment.

Course Content - What will I learn?

You will study a range units including: Customer Service, Anatomy and Physiology, Health and Safety, Maintaining Effectiveness at Work, Facial Treatments, Eyelash and Eyebrow Treatments, Waxing, Manicure and Pedicure and Make-up. Units are subject to change.
STUDENTS WILL NEED TO PURCHASE A KIT AND UNIFORM FROM THE COLLEGE (Approx 250.00). This cost includes a consumable price to cover products and disposables needed Students are required to perform and receive all treatments in the course. Oasis at Oakland's is our commercial salon which provides students with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of working in an operational salon. Students will be required to bring clients in for practical assessments. You will be attending college up to 16 hours per week this will include an evening session to reflect your future industry experience. Additionally you will be required to complete up to 6 hours per week home study. Students will also be given enrichment opportunities, taken on trips and encouraged to support businesses and groups in the community
