About the course

The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Equine Management is a one year programme that allows progression onto the L3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in year two. This qualification is for you if you want to work with horses. It provides you with a range of specialist technical and practical knowledge which will equip you to seek employment or further learning and training within the equine industry.

Career options

This course can lead to a number of opportunities within the industry including; a senior position working within an equestrian establishment, riding instructor (providing additional BHS qualifications have been taken alongside the course) Completion of the second year L3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma allows progression to Higher Education such as a Higher National Diploma, Foundation Degree or Bachelor's Degree.

For those of you wanting to go into employment, the aim of our Equine course(s) are to produce competent carers working with horses, with the potential to take up management positions after further experience.

Course Content - What will I learn?

You will study a variety of different topics in both a classroom and practical setting including; nutrition, anatomy and physiology, biology, riding on the flat, working horses from the ground, horse health, yard management, tack and equipment, work experience, fitness, rehabilitation and therapy, behaviour, equestrian teaching and competition grooming. English and Maths- depending on GCSE grades you will either study towards Functional Skills and / or GCSE's. You are required to carry out Work Experience based within the Equestrian Centre throughout the year and you will be required to complete an external placement between the first and second years of the course. You will have weekly personal development review sessions with your course tutor which will entail personal 1:2:1 sessions and lessons tailored around health, social, economic and welfare issues.
