Entry requirements

You will need to satisfy the following minimum criteria: AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting or equivalent, ideally at Merit or Distinction level. GCSE grade C/4 in Maths and English or their equivalent. Achievement of Level 3 on the AAT Skill check. You must be able to dedicate time to home study- usually between 5-7 hours per week. After your application is processed you will be required to attend an interview with a course tutor.

About the course

This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education, and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom. This Level 3 course is part of the Free Courses for Jobs initiative and is fully funded for eligible learners. Alternatively, you can apply for an advanced learner loan to cover the cost of studying this course. Please ask a member of college staff for more information. The Advanced qualification introduces more detailed financial tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and preparation of reports and returns. You will also master a range of accounting disciplines from ethical practices for accountants to advanced bookkeeping. Study the Level 3 Diploma to learn higher accounting techniques and disciplines, and qualify for AAT bookkeeping membership (AATQB). Course start date is 08/09/25 for daytime groups running from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm The on campus class will be every week on a Monday.

Course Content - What will I learn?

The course consists of four units covering the following topics: Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements Business Awareness Tax Processes for Businesses Management Accounting Costing (MAT)
The course fee does not cover the cost of any resit assessments, which are usually '70 per unit. You will also have to renew your AAT membership fees. The current rates can be found on the AAT website. Please note: you cannot sit the AAT exams if you are not a member of the Association.
