Assessment

Students will be assessed through written and practical assignments that will provide the learning necessary to enable the student to achieve the assessment criteria. Units 1 - 7 of the Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology will be internally assessed and internally moderated against the assessment criteria for those units. Unit 8, the final unit of the Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology, will be internally assessed, internally and externally moderated against the assessment and grading criteria for those units. Unit 8 is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and determines the overall final grade for the qualification.

About the course

The UAL L3 Diploma and Extended Diploma have been designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the media sector. You will study the L3 Diploma in the first year progressing onto the Extended Diploma in the second year building an impressive portfolio of work that could support progression into higher education.

Course Content - What will I learn?

You will study: Unit 1: Introduction to media processes and technical skills Unit 2: Introduction to design and research skills in creative media production Unit 3: Introduction to professional practice in creative media production Unit 4: Critical and contextual awareness Unit 5: Investigating audio production and technology Unit 6: Investigating visual production and technology Unit 7: Investigating interactive media production and technology Unit 8: Developing a creative media production project Unit 8 is the summative unit in the first year of the two year qualification and will provide the student with a measure of self-directed learning in the completion of a substantial Creative Media Production & Technology project. It will require the student to make use of the skills, knowledge and understanding developed in units 5 - 7 to complete a creative media production project. It will provide the student with a measure of self-directed learning, and an opportunity to begin to clarify their longer-term goals through their choice of an activity to explore in greater depth. The Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology will also provide students with opportunities to develop and utilise broad, transferable skills through encouraging an ethos of personal and professional development. They include: Initiative independent inquiry, creative thinking, reflective learning, team-working, self-management, effective participation, problem solving and communication.
As well as your formal studies, you will benefit from an exceptional enrichment programme providing you with numerous opportunities to visit Film & TV studios, screenings and trips. As part of your course you are required to complete Work Experience.
