Entry requirements

Candidates should already hold the Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures) (2365-02) or equivalent in order to complete the qualification satisfactorily.

Teaching staff

The electrical installation team at Oaklands College has come into Further Education from different parts of the electrical installation industry. Collectively, they have experience in domestic, commercial and industrial installation work, motors and control circuits, data cabling and software applications, installation inspection and testing, installation design and verification, electrical and electronic engineering.

The level 3 is assessed through a range of methods. These include on line exams, written exams, written assignments and practical exams.

About the course

This course is delivered in 1 year either day release or two evenings a week. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electrotechnology sector.

Career options

It allows candidates to progress into employment, although not as a fully qualified electrician, or to the following City & Guilds qualifications: '_Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services '_Level 3 Diploma in Electrotechnical Technology '_Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations '_Level 3 Award in the Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations '_Level 4 Award in Design and Verification of Electrical Installations

During any of our Electrical courses you will be expected to seek employment in the industry enabling you to gain invaluable hands-on experience. Electrical can lead you onto many different career paths, including higher level courses to further develop your skills in your chosen subject(s).
