Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at Grade 4 / C or above including English and Maths or a Level 2 qualification. Learners will be subjected to an enhanced DBS check to confirm their suitability to work with children. This is required on final acceptance onto the course as required by law for all people working with children and/or vulnerable adults.

Teaching staff

The Health and Social Care Team are made up of Lecturers with both academic and vocational backgrounds in Health and Social care and related disciplines. The expertise within the team include: Nursing, Care, Management, Social Policy, Early Years, Counselling and Psychology.

About the course

The duration of this course is 2 years to achieve the Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. When you have finished the course you can choose to go to work straight away or Apprenticeship or with enough UCAS points you can then progress to university. The college will help you in writing your CV, preparing for interviews, and with the UCAS application.

Course Content - What will I learn?

You will learn units like Human Growth and Development, Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology, Personal and Professional Development, Sociological and Psychological PerspectivesCommunication in Health and Social Care, Nutrition for Health and Social Care Working in Health and Social Care, Infection Prevent and Control in Health and Social Care, etc, There will also be a range of specialist units to study. The units are assessed using a variety of methods, including exams and Coursework that are based on a range of theories that will be linked to work placement experience. During the course you are expected to gain about 500 hrs of work placement experience which is Mandatory, the college will help you to get the placement.
