Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline prior to undertaking this qualification. Your centre will have ensured that you have the required knowledge, understanding and skills to enrol and successfully achieve this qualification. You must be aged 19+ to enrol on this course.

Teaching staff

Your teachers and assessors will have a minimum of five years industry experience supporting your learning and assessment targets and plans. You will be supported by an internal verifier throughout the assessment process.

About the course

The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is an advanced qualification that has been specifically designed for beauty therapists. You must be aged 19+ to enrol on this course. This qualification is based on beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS). This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications. Student Loan Available.

Career options

When you have successfully completed this qualification you will be in a position to aspire to promotion as an advanced beauty therapist providing laser and IPL services within a beauty salon. Further study qualifications could include: - VTCT Level 4 Award in Physiology for Advanced Beauty Therapy - VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Salon Management - VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy - VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Salon Management This qualification is not part of an apprenticeship.

Course Content - What will I learn?

This qualification has been specifically designed for the 19+ age groups, builds on existing knowledge and understanding of therapy skills and will develop an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare you for employment. You will have your skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment. This qualification will require research; it includes the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation with the client to formulate a specific course of treatment, tailored to suit individual client needs, use laser an light treatments for skin rejuvenation and hair removal and to manage the health, safety and security of the salon.

This qualification is the only Level 4 qualification offered by VTCT in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments. The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is a vocationally related qualification and is focused on reducing hair growth and photo rejuvenation of the skin using intense pulse light and laser treatments. This qualification requires you to develop skills to carry out IPL and laser treatments. This qualification allows you to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients.
