You will be assessed informally throughout the input sessions and formally through a mixture of assignment work and at least three observations of your teaching practice.

About the course

This is a part time in-service course aimed at teachers and trainers working in the post 14 teaching and learning environment. It covers the basics of planning, delivery, and assessment and is ideal for practitioners who are just starting in teaching and training. You will be taught by practitioners with a wide experience of working in the post 14 educational setting.

Career options

On successful completion of the Level 4, you may progress to further teaching qualifications such as the Level Diploma in Teaching and or PGCE in Post Compulsory Education. In order to achieve QTLS, you must have at least the Level 5 Diploma. You may also consider studying for the Assessor and /or IQA qualifications.

Course Content - What will I learn?

There are 4 mandatory units in the Level 4 Certificate: Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training Delivering education and training Assessing learners in education and training Using resources for education and training You may also study units on: Managing behaviours Developing employability skills Preparing to be a personal tutor (These may vary)
You need to provide your own resources. The cost of core textbooks will be in the region of '60-'80. However, you also be able to access these in the Learning Resource Centre.
