Assessment

The learners progress and achievement will be observed on an individual basis, with support and encouragement as required.

About the course

This newly formatted course is offered over 8 weeks with each session being 2 hours, 45 minutes. The course will cover basic building techniques such as pinching, coiling, slab building, use of moulds and throwing. You will be introduced to different methods to colour and glaze your work. Each student is encouraged to produce their own creative pieces using the different methods demonstrated each week. You will have access to clay (buff and terracotta) and a selection of underglazes, glazes and slips.

Career options

You may wish to refresh or build on your skills with continuing with the next Beginners course or join Pottery (Improvers/ Experienced). Additional short or one-day workshops will be offered, including Vase in Day and our NEW Sculpture in Clay, 2 day course.

The course fee includes a material charge to cover the cost of clay, glazing and firing, up to a maximum weight of 1.5kg. If 1.5kg is exceeded then additional costs will apply. Materials to be provided by the student: An apron, sketch book/notebook. Students will be advised on any further items they may require for individual projects.
