This course is for those who have completed Pottery - TRY A NEW CRAFT/ or a Beginners course (approximately 20 hours). It is not suitable for complete beginners.

About the course

The course aims to encourage each learner to produce pottery of a high standard, working at their own pace, in a friendly and relaxed environment. You will continue to develop your skills in clay preparation, (wedging and kneading), slab building, coiling and throwing i.e. centering/cylinders and turning. The use of slips and glazing techniques. Please note this course is not suitable for beginners, refer to 'What are the Coures Requirements', for more information. You will have access to clay (buff and terracotta) and a selection of underglazes, glazes and slips.

Course Content - What will I learn?

The course offers a variety of forms of clay work. Learn/develop your techniques in coiling, slab-ware, wheel-work, slip ware, glazing (spraying, dipping and pouring) and decorating.
The course fee includes a material charge to cover the cost of clay, glazing and firing, up to a maximum weight of 1.5kg. If 1.5kg is exceeded then additional costs will apply. Materials to be provided by the student: An apron, sketch book/notebook. Students will be advised on any further items they may require for individual projects.
