Assessment

Monthly exam dates are available and will be provided to you are you near completion of your course. Our courses are assessed by 3 exams the contents of which vary between the levels of study. Speaking and Listening: You will be invited to attend a workshop for preparation and then later an invitation to an online examination with up to 3 other students. The duration of this exams is approximately 1 hour. Reading: An online examination taken on the same day as the writing exam. You are advised to have a dictionary for this course, which you should bring to your examination. Writing: an online exam taking the form of 2 written tasks, one of which will be using less formal language than the other.

About the course

Our English courses will provide you with the knowledge required to develop your written, reading and spoken communication skills for modern Britain, including writing formal correspondence clearly and concisely. You will gain confidence in writing reports, formal letters, articles and much more. These skills will benefit you in all areas of your life and empower you to be able to progress in your job role, a career change or onto further or higher education. Distance Learning means that you will only have to come to the college to sit your exams, and only when you are ready.' This approach means that you can do your learning at times to suit you and from any location with an internet, computer, and printer. You cannot do the learning on a phone, tablet, or iPad. You will need to be able to attach documents to emails and frequently access your emails to submit work for marking and to respond to requests from your tutor and have good typing skills (for entry level courses, there is less focus on your typing ability). These courses have rolling starts and end dates between August and May. You can start as soon as your initial assessment and diagnostics have been completed and funding approved.

Please contact us to find out if you require any specific equipment for this particular course.
