This course is suitable for absolute beginners or for those wishing to brush up on their sewing skills. All learners need to be a minimum 19 years old.

About the course

This 6 week course will introduce you to common methods used when making, altering and repairing garments. You will complete various practical tasks using hand stitching and domestic sewing machine techniques and build a portfolio of samples for future reference. You will apply some of these methods in making a 1/2 scale bodice with calico.

Materials provided by learners: A sewing kit (includes Fabric scissors, Paper scissors, Tape measure, Unpicker, Pins, Sewing needles and 1 x good quality sewing thread in neutral colour (Gutermann, Coats, Sylko etc.) and an 8'Standard zipper in neutral colour and A4 folder with holed wallets.
