Learning for Independence and Future Employment (LIFE)

Our Provision

Welcome to the Learning for Independence and Future Employment (LIFE) provision.

We offer tailored programs for learners aged 16-22 who need extra support, including those with medical needs, helping them achieve their goals in a mainstream college environment.

Guided by each learner’s ECHP, we provide three pathways: Springfield, Supportive Learning, and Foundation into Vocational.

Springfield

Specialist provision based at our St Albans Campus which caters for students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), including those on the Autistic spectrum.

Supportive Learning

This course is designed for students with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), working from Entry Level 1 to GCSE in Maths and English.

Foundation into Vocation

Our educational programme is dedicated to supporting young people with moderate learning difficulties, disabilities, and Social & Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We provide a nurturing and structured learning environment that empowers students to transition from supported education settings or prolonged periods out of education into Vocational Further Education or employment.

Student Progression Route After Springfield

Possible progression to social care, assisted living, or, based on ability, a pre-entry-level Supportive Learning pathway.

After Supportive Learning

Options include Foundation into Vocation (Pathway 4), supported employment, or community day services.

After Foundation to Vocation

Students may advance to mainstream college courses or employment.
